Picking up a Grand Cayman car rental allows you to be flexible with your travel plans and even get to some attractions that you might have otherwise passed over. Don’t miss out on any of the amazing sights and experiences that the Cayman Islands have to offer!

GoSee - the smart way to book your car rental on Grand Cayman

Encircled by Cuba, Jamaica and Central America, the Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory nestled in the heart of the Caribbean. Although it’s often mentioned as a tax haven for big businesses and the ultra-rich, those who come here to relax are just as richly rewarded in leisure, beautiful beaches and glorious seascapes. Scuba divers will find themselves in heaven here, as the Cayman Islands are just the tips of an underwater mountain, which falls off in steep cliffs at several points and provides spectacular submarine environments. There are also several shipwrecks around the islands to explore. Even if you’re not scuba trained, there are plenty of snorkeling opportunities including swimming with stingrays at the Stingray City sandbar.

After you’ve landed on Grand Cayman island, a car rental pick up will be next on your to do list. Obviously you don’t want to leave this till the last minute - the best way to sort a car rental for your Cayman Islands holiday is to book online. The only problem there is that trawling through dozens of different car rental supplier websites is dull and time consuming - but GoSee cuts all that hassle out. See all the best deals for you in one place and get your booking sorted in no time at all with GoSee.

Securing a car rental in Grand Cayman is as simple as entering some basic info about your trip into our search box. Once you hit Search, you’ll be presented with car rental deals from range of different suppliers, all chosen to suit your itinerary dates. George Town car rental - George Town serves as the heart of the Cayman Islands, and provides an excellent stepping off point for your adventures on Grand Cayman and beyond. It’s more than just a launchpad though - make sure to set aside a bit of time to spend in George Town itself: rum distillery tours, submarine tours of the harbour, parasailing, gallery browsing, shopping and dining are all on the cards here.

Car rental suppliers in the Cayman Islands

Cayman Islands road rules

Like most places with a British colonial past, drivers use the left hand side of the road. Visitors from places like Australasia and the UK will find this natural, but if you’re used to driving on the right, just be cautious at intersections and you’ll be fine. If you come across an uncontrolled four way stop, those who arrived first have right of way. Roundabouts (also known as traffic circles or rotaries) are a common feature on Grand Cayman in particular, so you’ll need to know how to navigate them to avoid accidents. The main tenets of roundabout driving are: always travel around the roundabout in a clockwise direction, give way to traffic already on the roundabout, and indicate left immediately before you exit the roundabout even if you’re going straight through. Speed limits in the Caymans are measured in miles per hour: 25-30 mph in built up areas, 40 mph on the open road and 50 mph on larger roads. Always keep an eye out for speed limit signs which will tell you exactly what the limit is. A number of the rental cars available in the Cayman Islands have speedometers that are set for kilometers per hour, so double check with your rental car supplier to see if this is something you need to take into account. The legal blood alcohol limit in the Cayman Islands is 0.1% - if you’re planning to hit the road, it’s safest not to drink at all, so try to organise a sober driver if you plan to enjoy a drink or two. Finally, it is legal to turn left on a red light after you come to a full stop, providing it is safe to do so.

Cayman Islands driving tips

  • Always keep your driver’s licence on you when driving, along with your rental and insurance documents.
  • Remember to allow more travel time than you might expect. Grand Cayman is pretty small, but even main roads head through small towns with low speed limits, so you’ll be in for a leisurely journey - this works in nicely with the island’s stunning scenery.

What our customers say

IT WAS VERY EASY TO MAKE BOOKING
I WILL RECOMENDE GOSEE TO MY FRIENDS
Mileta Markovic
She was awesome, great lady over the phone, She explained everything in detail.
Anthony Unabor
Having had an awful service with QEEB, despite having booked a car months ago, we needed to look for a new provider. It is only 3 weeks until our holiday so I was worried that we would face an expensive car hire. GoSee had reasonably priced cars and the experience was hugely different to that of QEEB.
GoSee website was easy to use, straight forward and we were able to save a quote for the car we were interested in. A member of the GoSee team called that evening to make sure we had all of the information we needed and she sent us through the quote again... Thank you for making a stressful situation much more tolerable!!
