Are Enterprise and National the same?
National Car Rental is owned by Enterprise Holdings, which is also the parent company of Enterprise Rent a Car. National has locations in United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Australia.
Can I rent a car without a credit car?
National accepts pre-paid gift cards with a Visa, Mastercard® or Amex symbol as a form of payment at the end of a rental. Payment isn’t required when making a reservation. National does not accept online-only, virtual credit cards or any other type of "single-use" card number security product or one-time use credit card number that may be provided by credit card companies for online use. National will accept money orders as a form of payment. They are handled in the same manner as a cash rental.
Does National have a grace period for returning a car late?
National usually allows a 29-minute grace period for daily rentals. If the vehicle is returned within 2 ½ hours of the time it was rented on a subsequent day, additional hourly charges will apply. If you return the vehicle 2 ½ hours or more from the time it was rented on a subsequent day, you will be charged for an additional day of rental. Please Note: A National vehicle returned after hours will not be checked in until the next business day. If returning after hours when a branch is closed, the customer is responsible for the vehicle until the satisfactory check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.
How do I cancel my car rental reservation?
Cancellation terms may vary by location. It is essential to check the cancellation policy in the terms of your rental confirmation to be sure. There may be differences in fees and policies for members of the Emerald Club compared to the other renters.
How old do you have to be to rent a car?
The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age. Renters age 21 through 24 may be restricted to specific car classes and subject to a ‘Youthful Surcharge’. In Michigan and New York, the minimum age to rent is 18 as mandated by these states. U.S. military personnel and government employees ages 18 or older will not incur a Youthful Surcharge when renting for authorised government travel, but must show the rental location his or her official orders.
Is there a fee for an additional driver?
Any additional driver (excluding a spouse or domestic partner) will pay a daily fee. Any additional authorised drivers must appear at the time of rental and meet age and driver’s license requirements. An additional charge of $15 per day ($5 in New York state) for each additional authorised driver will be added to the rental cost unless other contractual conditions apply. An additional driver may only be added to the contract at a rental location and may be added or removed in the middle of the contract.
What are the requirements for renting a car?
Local policies may vary, but generally all drivers must meet the renting location's minimum age requirements, present a valid driver's license, and present a major credit card in their name at the time of rental, with available credit. And as part of National's ongoing commitment to increase safety measures about health and cleanliness against Covid-19, related government-imposed protocols are observed.
Note: A credit card is not required to rent in the state of New York. Renters who do not have a credit card will be required to complete a cash qualification process in order to rent.
What is your pet policy?
Pets are allowed in National rental vehicles. Customers need to keep pets crated and return their rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning/detailing fees. Service animals used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier.
