Looking back on an eventful year
We know that a lot happened in 2021. For GoSee it was particularly eventful. We started the year as Online Republic, operating two world class websites offering car rentals (Airport Rentals) and campervan rentals (Motorhome Republic). We are ending the year as GoSee, putting car and campervan rentals under one roof, giving our customers all the choice and all the expertise, all in one place. That’s because we wanted to challenge ourselves to rethink who we are, what we offer our customers and what we can be in 2022 and beyond.
The journey from Online Republic to GoSee
The GoSee story starts in 2004, when two brothers from New Zealand had the idea of offering alternative ways to hire rental cars online and founded Online Republic. Big dreams and a talented and dedicated team meant that success came quickly, so they expanded into offering motorhome bookings as well. It wasn’t long before the big names in the biz were taking notice, which led Webjet Limited, a household name in the travel industry and an ASX200 listed company, to purchase Online Republic in 2016.
The unexpected arrival of the pandemic in 2020 brought unique challenges to the travel industry, to say the least. The silver lining was the opportunity to take time to invest in our future. We wanted to make sure we were offering the best experience possible to our customers, so it made perfect sense to bring Online Republic, Airport Rentals and Motorhome Republic together as one under our new name, GoSee.
Helping you GoSee the people and places you love
Anyone that’s been through a rebrand will tell you that it’s not without its challenges. But throughout the process, our vision was clear: We’re here to help you make memories and connect you to the people and places you love.
Right now, that means being able to book a hire car or campervan at a great price from our brand-new website. The site is designed to put you in the driver’s seat (so to speak) and make what can sometimes be a complicated process into a simple one. Think of us like your well-travelled friend; we’ve been there, done that, and have plenty of tips to share so you can avoid hiccups and have an easy trip.
In future we hope to bring you an even wider product offering, meaning you can have even more choice and greater freedom to travel in the way that suits you best. And with our award-winning customer support team always there to help, you’re in great hands.
